Sunday 4th January 2009

 Happy New Year to everyone!

We are pleased to have our morning service led by Elizabeth Hobbs today.

Marjorie Willott. Marjorie condition has improved markedly following treatment for a thyroid deficiency. She is still in Hockley Ward in Southend Hospital (visiting 2.30 - 4.30 and 6.00 - 8.00). We give thanks for this good news but we will continue to support Marjorie in prayer.

Thank You to our Sunday School for their beautifully presented Christmas story of The Naughty Little Donkey. Special thanks to Joan for all the time and thoughtful preparation she puts into leading our children week by week.

Revd John & Dr Gill Robinson send their Christmas and New Year good wishes to us all. Their letter is on the notice board.

Christmas Count Your Blessings. Lisa Hemsley, who talked to us about the work of Action for Children last month, distributed charts to help us be more aware of our daily blessings throughout Advent, and make appropriate donations to AfC based on these blessings. Please pass your donations, or a contribution in lieu if you wish, to either Judith Radley or John Emmines as soon as possible.

Christmas Party. 4.00 - 6.30p.m. Saturday 10th Jan. in St Joseph’s Hall. Everybody welcome but, if you haven’t already done so, please let Lynda know if you plan to attend so that catering arrangements can be finalised.

Covenant Service. Sunday 18th Jan at 10.30a.m. Revd Clifford Newman will lead our joint Methodist/Anglican service, at which we renew our Covenant with God.

18th January also marks the start of Unity Week, and at 12noon there will be a bring-and-share lunch and special activities shared with other Christians in South Woodham Ferrers.

Be involved in something completely different on the streets of South Woodham Ferrers. A modern version of the Passion Play will take place on Good Friday, April 10th 2009; in the style of street theatre and medieval mystery plays. It will take place on two separate stages in the South Woodham Ferrers town centre; requiring the audience to move around the town following the play. This production needs people for all sorts of roles and jobs. Auditions being held TODAY at 4.00p.m in this church. This is an exciting dramatic opportunity for you to become involved in. Please contact us on 01245 325234 for more information. Julie and Paul Hardy
